The Faces
Every face has a name. The one in your right hand is called right which is symbolized as R. When you see R, you turn the face in your right hand clockwise. When you see Ri you turn the face in your right hand counterclockwise. The one in your left hand is symbolized as L, and that would be clockwise. Li is left counterclockwise. The one on top is up (U Ui). The one on the bottom is called down (D Di). Lastly the one in the back is called back (B Bi). The picture to the left is the best example I can possibly give you.
Part 1 The White Cross
The white cross is the most difficult part of solving a 3x3x3 because there is no, real algorithm. First find a white middle piece. (Ex. white and red.) Lets say you found the you found the white and red middle piece. With the white center piece facing the top, find the find the red center piece. rotate the cube so that the red and white middle piece is under the red center piece. Flip the front of the cube, (in this case the red side) twice so that the the red of the middle piece connects to the red center piece and the white on the middle piece is connected to the white center piece. Do this for all of the of the white middle pieces. If you come to the complication that when you flip the front of the cube and it doesn't match up then, with the that front that didn't match up facing you, do the algorithm Fi U Li Ui That should work. if so you cube should look like the one on the left. If so you are ready for step 2/5. :P
Part 2 The White Side
To solve the white side is simple as long as you have the white cross done. So what you do is you find a corner piece with white on it. Once the piece is located take the piece and turn the cube so that it is under its match. Example: If the corner piece is white, red, and blue, you find the blue and red center pieces, with the white center piece on top put the white, red, and blue under the in between piece of the red center piece and blue center piece. Once this is done you will simply do the algorithm with the white, red, and blue piece is in your right hand corner: Ri Di R D Keep doing it until the piece is in the correct position. you are done with this step when all sides of your cube looks like this.
Part 3 the middle layer
To solve the middle layer will be very simple if you follow these few steps. Flip your cube upside down so that the solved side is facing down. First, find a middle piece without any yellow on it. Once you have located that piece, you will then line up the color of the piece facing you with its center piece, Just like the picture to the left. Let's say that the piece you are working in is blue & orange with the blue being the one facing you, Since the orange is on top you will want that middle piece directly in between the blue & orange center pieces. to do that you simply do this algorithm with the blue side facing you: Ui Li U L F Ui Fi Now lets say that the orange was facing you and the blue is on top. You want the piece in the same spot but it's a different algorithm. With the orange side facing you, do the algorithm: U R Ui Ri Ui Fi U F Do this with all 4 middle pieces with out yellow. If you do this step correctly then your cube should look like this.
Part 4 The Yellow Cross
The yellow is the next step on solving the Rubik's cube. When you see the yellow side of the cube, it will be in one of four states. The four states are, the one yellow in the middle, the little backwards L in the upper left hand corner of the cube, the yellow line going horizontal across the cube, and finally the yellow cross. there is an example to the left. If the yellow is in the #4 position then do this algorithm with the yellow face up: F R U Ri Ui Fi If the yellow face is in the #2 position have it so that the little L is in the upper left hand corner and then do the same algorithm but take note we are not talking about corner pieces so it doesn't mater if the little L looks like a square. If the yellow face is in the #3 position you do the same algorithm the line horizontal. If the cube is in position #1 then you don't have to do that algorithm. Now you want the stickers connected to the yellow to match their center pieces. To do this you turn the top face until you find at least two that match. If the two are on opposite sides then have one face you and the other facing the opposite direction of you and do the algorithm: R U Ri U R U U Ri After that you should without moving the cube find the two that match their center pieces. Once you have located them you do this algorithm with one in you right hand and on in the opposite direction of you: R U Ri U R U U Ri U. If you have done this right your cube should look like the picture below.
Part 5 The Yellow Corners
The last step to solve the Rubik's cube is to solve the yellow corners. The first thing you want to do is find the yellow corner piece that is in the correct place but not in the correct orientation. I mean if you see a yellow, blue, and orange, you put the piece right in the middle of the yellow, blue, and orange center pieces. If you don't find one the do this algorithm from any angle as long as the yellow side is up U R Ui Li U Ri Ui L Now once you have found that piece, have the yellow side face up and have that certain piece in the in the bottom right had corner of the yellow side and do the same algorithm as you did before U R Ui Li U Ri Ui L Once you have done this, to get all four yellow piece in the correct orientation just take one yellow piece that isn't in the correct orientation ans put that piece in the bottom right hand corner and do the algorithm Ri Di R D Once you have done this the whole cube will be messed up but don't worry, all you have to do is turn the top of the cube right until the next yellow corner piece that isn't in the correct orientation is in the bottom right hand of the yellow face and do the same algorithm Ri Di R D Continue doing this until all the yellow pieces are all in the same orientation. Once you have completed this step correctly then your cube should look like the picture to the left then you have solved the Rubik's cube.
